The 4th son of Emperor Kangxi adopted the reign title " Yong Zheng" upon his ascension to the imperial throne in 1723. The reign title "Yong Zheng" means " Harmony and Upright". Emperor Yongzheng was a capable ruler and continued to consolidate the goverment and military under his control. Cash coins casted during his reign were very uniform and also of high quality reflecting the prevailing strong economy of China. Except for coins issued by the Board of Revenue and Board of Works in Beijing, the coins issued from the provinces bear both Manchu and Chinese inscriptions indicating the names of the mints and provinces. Due to his relatively short reign of only 12 years, the coins issued during his reign were relatively scarce.
